Frederick Nacovitch Obituary

Frederick Nacovitch, age 76, a retired Trumbull Police Captain, died September 23, 2010. He lived most of his life in Trumbull. Born on October 8, 1933 in Bridgeport to the late Michael and Mary Pistey Nacovitch. Fred went to trade school and worked as a stone mason until joining the Trumbull Police Force in 1961. He worked his way up the ranks and in 1987 attained the rank of Captain of the Detective Bureau. Fred truly loved his job. Fred loved playing his guitar and harmonica and listening to all kinds of music, especially country. He had a green thumb and always had a large vegetable garden in his backyard. Fred was an avid Yankee fan. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, trailor camping, duckpin bowling, vacationing in Florida and tinkering in his workshop in his retirement years. He was also an animal lover. But Fred's greatest love was his family. He was fondly known a "Bepa" by his eight grandchildren. Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Rosemarie Hungerford Nacovitch; his children Jeanmarie Falcone Montabana and her husband Gary of Trumbull; Fred Nacovitch and his wife Laura of Sumter, S.C. Tammy Kohalmi and her husband David of Milford, and Christine Orrico and her husband Ronald of Newtown; eight treasured grandchildren, Michael and Sarah Falcone, Jason and Ryan Nacovitch, Erica and Amanda Kohalmi and Cheryl and Steven Orrico; a brother John Nacovitch and his wife, Terry of Huntington; and many nieces and nephews. Fred's family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and staff at St. Vincent's Medical Center especially the nurses on 7 East and staff for their amazing compassion and care of our father through this very difficult time. Friends and family are invited to attend his funeral services on Monday at 9 a.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Trumbull Funeral Home 399 White Plains Rd. and at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church 190 Shelton Rd. Trumbull. Interment in St. John's Cemetery. This just popped up in my memories today through email...I still after all these years think about Fred from time to time...what fond memories I have... I hope his family are doing well....and I certainly hope Fred is resting in eternal peace. Blessings to all of you. I believe that ALL of the Dunkin Donuts regulars (in Fred's group) are sipping coffee in heaven. What a wonderful group of gentlemen.

Dear Rose:
It was a delight to have known Fred. On Fridays Fred would take the bus with my brother, Albert, from Bullard Havens, where they were both stone masons, and come home to Nichols. We enjoyed Fred's visits on weekends. We usually had a really good time. Albert and Fred would go hunting in the woods around our house on occasion. When the fun weekend was over, we would hop in the car and our Dad took Fred home to his parents' house. Fred was a wonderful friend.
My condolences to you and your family. God bless him.

Dear Rose and family:
My thoughts and prayers are with you and the children. It's been many years, but I still remember the times my family and yours spent together. I remember when Fred was a teenager and he spent time with Al at our house hunting, hanging out and talking. Al remembers all the times too. (He's in North Carolina with his daughter Linda now). I'm still in Vermont. Fred's memory will stay with my family for a long time. God Bless You. Love, Martha Yankowski

To The Nacovitch Family:

I had the privilege to get to know Fred when I moved to Trumbull six years ago. I was a morning regular at Dunkin Donuts, he and his buddies befriended me. As it turned out he knew a lot of my relatives from the old days and the police force. And then I had the same Big Y schedule as he did...I would always help him hunt for something...He was a kind and good man. I also went to school with his niece Cindy.

My prayers are with you now. I will always keep a special place in my heart for Fred.

Blessings to All of You,
Donna Werfelman

Jeanmarie, Gary, and all family members, I was saddened to hear of the loss of your Dad. I had a tremendous amount of respect for him and his accomplishments in life. He was good father, husband and Police Officer. He was simply a good person who will be missed by many. God Bless
