Gertrudis Acosta, 97, of Danbury, passed away at Pope John Paul II Health Care Center on Sunday, April 6, 2014. Gertrudis was born in the Dominican Republic, daughter of the late Damaso Marciaq and Julia Fontana Devers. She attended schools in Dominican Republic and immigrated to the United States in 1962. She had worked at Danbury Hospital in the housekeeping department. She is survived by her sons, Raymond Acosta and wife Mercedes of Cromwell and Rolando Acosta of Danbury, her grandchildren: Raymond Jr., Ronald, David and Tennille Acosta, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers and a sister. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a service to be held at 7:30 p.m. Entombment will take place at St. Peter Cemetery Mausoleum, on Thursday at 12:30 p.m.
