Helen Nash Obituary

Helen S. Nash of Sarasota, Fla., former resident of New Milford, died suddenly and unexpectedly on December 23, 2010 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. She is survived by her husband John W. Nash. Helen and John were married for 70 years. Helen was born in New York City, January 29, 1917. She was a graduate of Russell Sage College and Baypath College and for many years performed secretarial work at the newspapers she and her husband owned and published. She once managed the Classified Advertising department of the New Milford Times. Helen and John moved from New Milford to Westfield, Massachusetts and from there spent increasing amounts of time in Sarasota, before retiring to 3924 Torrey Pines Blvd. in the Country Club of Sarasota. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Claudia Hurley and her husband, Michael, of Westfield. She was predeceased by her daughter, Suzanne. She is also survived by four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Helen was a gifted musician and an accomplished organ player. She loved cooking and entertaining. She supported many wildlife organizations and loved animals, especially her Boston terriers. She always brought a sense of humor to everything she did. A Memorial service to celebrate her life was planned to be held at the Toale Brothers Gulf Gate Chapel, 6903 S. Tamiami Trail on Friday, December 31, at 11:30 a.m. Memorial contributions in her honor can be made to Wildlife organizations, The Humane Society, or to the charity of your choice.

I am so sorry to hear about Helen.I used to help with housework,and always enjoyed going to their house.I used to love hearing her play the organ and her and John were so good to each other.wonderful people.my prayers are with you.
