Isabelle Kalil Obituary

Isabelle M. Kalil, age 92, passed away peacefully at the Gardens Assisted Living Facility in Danbury on November 13, 2010. She was born June 10, 1918 in Methuen, MA, daughter of the late Deeb and Ramza (Murad) Jurdy. Isabelle attended schools in MA and was a long time Danbury resident. Isabelle was prede-ceased by her beloved husband of 58 years, Emil as well as her sisters, Mary Kakadeles, Clara Maccarini and Lorraine Aberisk and by her brother, George Jurdy. She is survived by her daughter, Norma Kalil Osta of Stamford; her son, Ronald Kalil and his wife, Carla of St. Simons Island, Ga.; her grandchild, Elizabeth Kalil of Portland, Maine; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Isabelle loved traveling extensively with her husband. She was thrilled to be exposed to other cultures and adventures. Isabelle also had a profound love for horses. She and Emil owned a stable of harness horses that they raced throughout the country. Mrs. Kalil was a past president of the Ladies' Guild of St. Anthony's Maronite Church, Danbury. She was an active member of her church and amember of the Order of St. Sharbel. Isabelle was a spiritual woman and her faith meant everything to her. When asked about friends and family, Isabelle would always say, "They're so nice!" Her heart was open to all she met and Isabelle will be sorely missed by all. The Liturgy of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 17th, 2010 at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony's Maronite Catholic Church, 17 Granville Ave., Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury. The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Masonicare Home Health and Hospice, 777 Federal Road, Suite 28, Brookfield, CT 06804.

Dearest Norma,

Our dear Isabelle, always kind, gentle and warm to all around her. You will always be remembered and loved. Some of my early memories were visiting the stables with my dad. How far back we go and how close our families have been -- this I cherish. Rest in peace and love.
