J. Stearns Obituary

J. Richard Stearns, 81, of Ridgefield, wife of the late Gloria (Sia) Stearns, died on Sunday, October 24, 2010 at Danbury Hospital. Dick was born in the Bronx, NY, May 28, 1929, son of the late Jules and Lillian (Keil) Stearns and was raised in Pennsylvania. He attended Pennsylvania schools and returned to living in New York in 1949. A retired auto mechanic, Mr. Stearns owned and operated the second Datsun dealership on the east coast based in White Plains, NY known as Stearns' Motors. A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of the V.F.W., National Handyman's Association, National Rifle Association and the Ridgefield Republican Town Committee. He was a member of the Baptist Church of Danbury where he served as a deacon. Dick is survived by a nephew, Paul A. Sia Jr. and his wife, Susan of Ridgefield; two grandnephews, William and Joseph and two grandnieces, Nicole and Gabrielle. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday evening at 7:30 PM in the Baptist Church of Danbury, 14 Granville Ave., Danbury with the Rev. Dr. David Reinhardt officiating. Interment will take place at the direction of the family. Friends will be received at the Baptist Church of Danbury on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 after 6:30 p.m. Contributions in his memory and honor may be made to the Baptist Church of Danbury. Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury is in charge of arrangements.

My condolences to both The Stearns and Sia family regarding the loss of Richard. He certainly is happy now, re-united with Gloria.
