Joseph Stanley Pruchnik, 69, of Sherman, CT, passed away on Friday, January 18, 2013, at New Milford Hospital. Joe was born in New Milford, Ct, April 26, 1943, son of the late Stanley and Helen Tencza Pruchnik. He graduated from New Milford High School, Class of 1962. He resided in Sherman, CT at Happy Acres Farm since age sixteen, where he worked alongside his dear friend Tony Hapanowich, caring for the cows and the farm he so thoroughly enjoyed. Joe retired in 1997 from the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation after 37 years of service. He is survived by his brother Frank Pruchnik Sr, sister-in-law Dolly, nephews Denis Pruchnik and Frank Pruchnik Jr, and niece Laurie Pruchnik. He is also survived by two great nieces, Amber Pruchnik and Elizabeth Grimaldi, and great nephew Jesse Pruchnik, as well as one uncle and several aunts and cousins. A Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at 11 AM at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge Street, New Milford, CT. A spring burial will take place at St. Francis Cemetery, New Milford. Friends may call on Wednesday, January 23, from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Lillis Funeral Home. Contributions in his memory may be made to the local chapter of the Future Farmers of America (FFA).
