Kenneth Scherwenik Obituary

Kenneth A. Scherwenik, age 64 of Danbury, husband of Hansel (Cobelle) Scher-wenik died on Sunday evening, September 19, 2010 at Danbury Hospital. Mr. Scherwenik was born in Whitestone, Queens, N.Y., August 3, 1946, son of the late Albert R. and Mary (Terlecki) Scherwenik. A resident of Danbury since the age of six, he attended Danbury schools and graduated Danbury High School in the Class of 1965. He later attended the University of Connecticut where he obtained his Bache-lor's degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences. He was also a member of Zeta Psi. He later received a second Bachelor's degree from Western CT State University in Meterology and Geology, graduating magna cum laude and was enrolled in the masters program at New York University. A U.S. Air Force veteran, he served as a pilot and attained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. Mr. Scherwenik was a retired systems analyst for Schlumberger Doll Research of Ridgefield from 1978 to 2007. He stayed on as a private consultant. He enjoyed flying, astronomy, photography, computers and most especially his family. Ken always set the example of strength with grace. In addition to his wife of 25 years, he is survivied by a daughter, Michele Brabant of Danbury; two sisters, Lorraine DeAlessio and Carol Degen, both of Brook-field; a grandson, Damian; his very special best friend, James Ellis of Brookfield; as well as several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held on October 3, 2010 at Terrywhile Mansion at 2pm. Contributions in Ken's memory and honor may be made to the Danbury Hospital Development Fund, 24 Hospital Ave., Danbury, CT 06810.
