Leo Driscoll Obituary

Leo C. Driscoll III, 51, of Ridgefield, husband of Susan (Hughey) Driscoll, died at his home on Monday, November 1st. He was born in Chicago, IL on September 4, 1959, son of the late Leo C. Jr. and Carol (Coldwell) Driscoll. He grew up in Franklin Lakes, NJ and was a graduate of St. Joseph Regional High School in Montvale, NJ . He worked for many years as VP of Sales for VIP Fabrics, a Division of Cranston Printworks in New York City. He later worked for Ridgefield Supply and Danbury Ice Arena. A longtime member of AA, Leo was passionate about helping others in their recovery. He was currently working as a counselor at Project MORE in Poughkeepsie, NY, and always put other people's needs before his own. Leo was an avid Red Sox's fan, who also enjoyed fishing, hockey, golf, and had a great sense of humor. Most importantly, Leo loved his three daughters dearly. In addition to his wife, Sue, he will be sadly missed by his daughters, Carol Ann, Megan, and Kellie Driscoll; his two brothers, Kevin Driscoll and his wife, Laura of NJ, John Driscoll and his wife, Anna Marie of NJ; his sister, Jill Collins and her husband, Geoff of CO. He is also survived by his former wife, Ann Driscoll of Brookfield, as well as several nieces and nephews. Leo C. Driscoll will forever be in our hearts. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 5th at 10 am at St. Joseph Church, Brookfield. The family asks that friends join them for further Celebration of Leo's life at the Danbury Ice Arena, where he and Sue met, immediately following Mass. I grew up with Leo in Franklin Lakes. He had just moved in and sat next to me on the bus on our first day of high school. 3 years later we went in his black 57 Chevy to the Sr. Prom. I loved his crooked smile and infectious laugh. He touched a lot of peoples lives in such a positive way. Kevin, John, Jill i am so sorry you lost your big brother. And to Leo's family, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Jill Kollins

I met Leo when he was 3 and moved in next door in Dumont, NJ. I was 6. Here are a few memories of “Little” Leo – the most charming Irish b------ I’ve ever known & loved!

• Meeting Leo for the first time. He picked up my truck, said “Mine!”, and walked back to his yard with it.
• Leo jumping out the 2nd story window in the middle of the night into the snow because his door was stuck & he needed to pee. He went in the front door, up to the bathroom, and back to bed.
• Leo driving me crazy by ending every argument with “just because”.
• Making me take him to “The Groove Tube” movie when he was 13; and then making me lie to Mrs. Driscoll about its content. (I was a terrible liar, of course).
• Watching Leo fall through pond ice in full hockey gear when he was 11 (the water was over his head); and somehow climbing back onto the ice by himself.
• My hand stinging whenever I played catch with him. He was a hell of a pitcher.
• His laugh. Which I heard clearly at my Irish Mom’s funeral when I told the following joke (which applied to her… and Leo): “What is the difference between an Irish wedding and an Irish funeral… One less drunk!”
• Never feeling judged by him. He accepted me for who I am.
• His hug at my Mom’s funeral 2 years ago. The last time I saw him…

Leo, I love you always... Robbie

Leo was a great, selfless guy. Quite a character, loved to laugh, loved his family. Stubborn as heck too. A friend of Bill's, he was always there to help the next person. God bless Leo's kids and family- he's with the Big Guy now in heaven- Mike McGarry Bethel, Ct.

I had not seen Leo in some years, but always enjoyed his love of life and sense of humor. Despite his forgivable affection for the Sox, ;-) Leo LOVED baseball...and I loved playing with Leo. He and I were on little league teams together in Franklin Lakes, we played on the St Joe's baseball team, and later in our local softball league. I'll always recall Leo Sr saying "C'mon Agnes!" as Leo would stand in the batters box - and this was whether Leo was 12 or 26!! Great fun. This news on Leo's passing is very sad. I will miss him and his spirit, but I know he lives on. God Bless his family!

I learned of Leo's passing last night and was terribly sad to hear this news. I grew up with Leo in Franklin Lakes and played baseball, softball and pond hockey with him and knew him as a loyal friend with a great laugh and a fierce competitor. My family loved him. I offer heartfelt condolences to the immediate and extended Driscoll clan.

I've known Leo for 11 years through the fellowship and he was a great guy. Leo loved children more than anyone; he talked about his girls all the time and loved to spend meetings holding my two boys when they were babies. Leo, we will all miss you.

I was shocked to hear of Leo's passing. I knew Leo from town and Saint Joe's. He was a great guy. Never forget the good times and his '57 Chevy. God bless.

November 3, 2010

I met Leo (Who-Leo to me) when he was working at VIP Fabrics. He had such a mischievous personality, so funny, and so full of life! And yet, there was a real sweetness about him, and a concern for others. That seems like such a long time ago. I am sure his children are grown--they were little when I knew him--and can be proud of the kind of person their dad was! Give my kindest thoughts to each of them, and I know that he is in a beautiful place where he is reunited with his father and loving grandparents. May God's comfort be with each of you.
Kind regards,

Ann, Carolann, Megan and Kellie,

I am so so sorry to hear about Leo. It broke my heart. He was such a wonderful person. I am so glad that I have some great memories of all of us on Royal Pine Drive. He was a lot of fun and such a caring person and loved all of you so much. One great memory I have of him is when he used to come over the house looking for Yolanda and her Sausage and Peppers. Oh how he loved those sausage and peppers. God Bless him and he is in good hands and looking down on us with Franca. Love you guys.
