Louis Biro Obituary

Louis J. Biro of Sherman, died at Candlewood Valley Rehabilitation Center on November 5. He was born in Fairfield Ct, the son of Charles and Esther Biro. Mr. Biro graduated from Roger Ludlow High School in Fairfield, Ct. During World War II, he was a 2nd Lieutenant pilot in the Air Force and was stationed in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Biro graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY with a Bachelor's Degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He was a licensed Professional Engineer who worked most of his life in the aeronautical and aerospace fields, including the design of the Saturn 5 space capsule. Mr. Biro was a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and the National Society of Professional Engineers. He also designed and built the couple's home on Lake Candlewood. Mr. Biro is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Schoenagel Biro; his children Carol Corbett of New Milford, Kathy Baumgardner of Lynn, NY, Larry and Laura Biro of Oakham, Ma; grandchildren Jonathan and Keith Corbett, Jason Baumgardner, and Andrew and Kathryn Biro; and sister Elizabeth Smith of Bridgeport. He is predeceased by his parents and brothers Charles and Alexander Biro. Gravesite service will be at Colburn Cemetery in Sherman on Wednesday November 10th, 2010 at 10 am. Arrangements by the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge Street, New Milford.
