Magnifico, Mary A.
Mary (Moffa) Magnifico, 81, of Danbury, died peacefully at Laurel Ridge Health Care Center on Wednesday, October 16th. She was born in Danbury on September 28, 1932, daughter of the late, John and Maria Moffa.
Mary possessed a passion for flea markets and tag sales. Her desire to find the perfect item became a lifelong hobby that she, her husband, family and friends came to experience together. Her ability to find an obscure piece of sorts and research the true value of that piece was impressive. In addition to her interest in the art of buying and selling, Mary was a natural caregiver. The concept of family was eminently important to her. She developed a maternal instinct at a very young age, that continued to grow and give joy and security for those dear to her.
Mary was a graduate of Danbury High School and went on to Cosmetology and Beauty School. She worked as a hairstylist at Anita's Beauty Salon for many years before, with her husband, Art, partnered with their brother and sister in law, owned and operated Magnifico's Restaurant in Danbury.
Mary was a well loved and respected individual. Her generosity touched so many she encountered. She had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and shared her intellect with her closest family and friends. The beautiful memories of Mary will continue to resonate in our hearts forever.
Mary will be sadly missed by her daughter, Lorenzina "Lorie" Davis of Danbury, her granddaughter Tessa Davis of New Haven, her brother Joseph Moffa and his wife Ann, her sister Connie Lariccia of Danbury and several nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Arduino "Art" Magnifico and her brother, Joseph Moffa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, October 25th at 10:30am at St. Peter Church, Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury on Thursday between the hours of 4:00 and 7:00pm.
At the family's request, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Richardson 8 - Geriatric Psychiatry Unit, Bridgeport Hospital, 267 Grant Street, Bridgeport, CT 06610
