Matt and I were good buddies in the late 1950s/early 1960s in Mianus Village. We played street and little league baseball together and enjoyed many adventures in the nearby woods and on the Mianus River. He was always a good sport, easy going, and blessed with a caring, forgiving nature. I recall one day, we were climbing a tree with carpenter saws hitched on our belts. Several branches separated us, with me on the top. For some reason, my belt untied and the saw slipped out, grazing Matt's head on the way down. The poor boy was bloodied by the time we reached the ground, and I was in a near panic. I can still picture him holding a rag to his forehead comforting me, telling me not to worry, it wasn't my fault... Quite a guy and a wonderful childhood friend.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences at his early passing.
