Pearl Dent Obituary

Pearl W. Dent, age 89 of Danbury, wife of the late George W. Dent, passed away at her home on Wednesday, November 3, 2010. Pearl was born in Stratford, daughter of the late Nicholas and Mary (Tedlenko) Wairy. She attended Stratford schools and has been a longtime Danbury resident. She had worked with her late husband and son in the family business, the former Dent Electrical Supply Company of Danbury and had served as a former board member of the Scott Fanton Museum, as well as a former member of the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Danbury Republican Town Committee. She was a longtime member of the Danbury Rotary Club and the Ridgewood Country Club. Pearl had been a recipient of the Cecil Previdi Good Scout Award for outstanding community service and was Master Bridge Player. She is survived by five children, George W. Dent III and wife, Rebecca of Pepper Pike, Ohio, Geoffrey N. Dent and wife, Amy of Sandy Hook, Gary A. Dent and wife, Pamela, of West Hills, Calif., Janis Van Heukelom and husband, Kent of Malden, Mass. and G. Richard Dent of Wolcott; as well as three sisters, Olga Pidluski of Fairfield, Helen Flonc of Stratford and Ann Moniuk, of Bridgeport; seven grandchildren, Marissa and her husband, Sean Delehanty, Christina, Chloe, Delia, Emily, Noah and Taylor; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held in the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Wooster Cemetery. Friends may call in the Green Funeral Home on Friday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. Contributions in her memory may be made to Danbury Hospital Development Fund, 24 Hospital Ave., Danbury, CT 06810 or Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut, 405 Main St., Danbury, CT 06810.
