Richard "Dick" Whitman Hanna, 82, of Lockwood Lodge in Newtown, formerly a longtime Danbury resident, died Monday, February 4, 2013 at his home. Born in Bethel, CT, a son of the late William and Elaine Whitman Hanna, he served with the US Air Force. He received his BA and JD from the University of Connecticut. Dick was a partner in the Danbury law firm of Wanderer, Hanna and Talarico retiring in 2004. He was a former member of the Ridgewood Country Club in Danbury and Danbury Club. He was a board member of The Neustadt Collection of Tiffany Glass in New York City and former board member of the Union Savings Bank in Danbury. An enormous lover of animals, Dick was also an enthusiastic contributor to environmental conservation. He was also a life master bridge player and an avid theater goer. Dick is survived by his daughters: Susan Hanna Poitras of Danbury and Katherine Hanna White of Norcross, GA. His son: W. Richard "Rick" Hanna of Chatsworth, CA. His loving granddaughters: Ashley Nicole Poitras, Natalie Hanna White and Nicole Hanna White. His sister: Barbara "Bobbie" Stiles of Bridgeport, CT. His dear friend: Priscilla Bromley of Monroe, CT. The Hanna family would like to extend their gratitude to the nurses and staff of Lockwood Lodge for the wonderful loving care over the past seven years.
