Rita Chuvala Obituary

Rita Rhee Chuvala, 76, of Albuquerque, N.M., previously of Danbury, found complete healing from Alzheimer's on October 24, 2010, and now rests with her Lord. She is survived by her two sons, Keith Chuvala of Friendswood, Texas, and Kevin Chuvala of Durango, Colo.; as well as by her five grandchildren; four stepchildren; a brother; her stepmother; and numerous nieces and nephews. Rita was preceded in death by her mother and father, and her husband, Stephen "Steve" Chuvala. Born on November 23, 1933 in Mt. Vernon, N.Y. to Gordon J. and Gloria D. (Walker) Scott, Rita married Steve on January 30, 1959. The family lived in Danbury until Steve's retirement in 1976, after which they moved to Albuquerque. While in Danbury Rita and the family were members of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She worked as a secretary for many years, and ended her career working as a civil servant with the Department of Veterans Affairs office in Albuquerque. A graveside service will be held for Rita on Saturday, November 6, 2010 in Albuquerque. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rita's name to The Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org. Friends and family may contact Rita's eldest son, Keith, via his web site at www.chuvala.com.
