Roger Earl Weaver, age 93, of New Milford, CT, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Candlewood Valley Care Center, New Milford, after a brief illness.
He was born in Bennington, VT in 1920 to the late Helen Gulliver Weaver. Roger enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1941 and served during World War II as a B-24 radioman and waist gunner on 35 combat missions over central and southern Europe.
Returning to Bennington after the war, he relocated to the Danbury, CT area in the early 1950's where he held several jobs before joining the US Post Office in 1964. During this time, he married Veronica McCarthy, but lost her prematurely to cancer. After marrying the widowed Jean Keating Frinder Corrow in 1979, he retired from the Post Office in 1984 and moved to West Yarmouth, MA on Cape Cod.
Following his wife's death in 2010, he continued to live on the Cape until declining health brought him to the home of his step-son and daughter-in-law Donald and Joan Frinder in 2012.
In addition to the Frinders, he is survived by his step-daughter: Barbara Jean Frinder O'Donnell and her husband Brendan; six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
