Ruth and I had numerous phone conversations, often about our mutual friend, her brother Guy.
This morphed to something else, including advice about his estate. This morphed into a deep respect for her empathy and courage, which I will never forget.

Dear Ken and family,

I was most saddened to hear about Ruth's passing. As you may know, I was a good friend of her brother Guy at MIT. Ruth and I had many phone conversations but somehow never met, despite a number of attempts. What I can say is that she was a very caring and compassionate person, and we shared our fond memories of Guy.
Now I feel that I have lost another good friend.
Please accept my sympathies and heart felt appreciation of Ruth for her compassion and her brave struggle against the storms of life.
