Vera Elbaum Obituary

Vera Elbaum, age 87, of Bridgewater, died Saturday afternoon, October 30th at New Milford Hospital after being taken ill that morning. Vera was born March 3, 1923 in Hillsboro, Tenn. She leaves her brother, E.C. Ferguson of Madison, Tenn.; a niece, Dreanna; beloved sister, Dr. Judy Worthington and brother-in-law, Roy Worthington of Manchester, Tenn.; daughter, Barrie Kavasch of Kent; sons, Charles Elbaum of Bridgewater and Nick Elbaum of Greenville, R.I.; grandchildren, Chris and Kim Kavasch, Glenn and Robert Elbaum, Albert and Susan Taylor, Beth, Nicky and Danny Elbaum. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold, a daughter, Kathleen, a brother, Charles Austin Ferguson; and a special friend, Mr. Gould. After graduating high school in Tennessee, Vera went on to nursing school and worked for many years as a private nurse before settling in the Danbury area in the early 60's where she worked at Davis and Geck. For the past 35 years Vera had been a resident of Bridgewater, enjoying her gardens and wildlife. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 3, at 5 p.m. at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge Street, New Milford. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to the Bridgewater Scholarship Fund, Main Street, Bridgewater, CT 06752, of which Vera was a long time supporter.
