Wayne Gillingham Obituary

Wayne R. Gillingham, 58 of Danbury, husband of Nancy (Forte) Gillingham died on Saturday, October 2, 2010, at Danbury Hospital. He was born in Queens NY, son of C. Wesley Gillingham and the late Beatrice (Jones) Gillingham of Newtown. Wayne graduated from Newtown High School and Windam College in Putney VT. Wayne was employed by Photronics Inc. before having to retire due to his illness. Wayne is also survived by his daughter who he cherished, Lauren Gillingham; his brothers, Robert Gillingham of TN, Wesley Gillingham and his wife Amy of NY; niece and nephew Iris and Roan. Father-in-law Rudolph Forte, sister-in law Kathleen Forte-Leventhal and husband Gerald, Robert Forte, John Forte and wife Julie, and treasured niece and nephews, Lindsay, Ryan and Jake. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2010, at 11:30 am at St. Gregory the Great Church, 85 Great Plain Rd., Danbur. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be private. Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation for research in the illness that Wayne fought courageously for 20 years. The Center for Vasculitis Care and Research - Cleveland Clinic c/o Gary S. Hoffman MD., MS, Lerner College of Medicine, Cleveland Clinic A50, 9500 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, OH 44195 and mark on the check " to be applied only to Vasculitis research"

Nancy, Wayne was a very special patient for me from the first day I met him.I admired how calm and courageous he was fighting his disease. Being so sick himself, he always had kind words for me. I know that other doctors taking care of him were very passionate about him as well.I will always remember him.
