The Guest Book is expired.
William C. Lawrence, 77, of Plymouth, husband of Marion (Karolkowski) Lawrence, died Thursday March 20, 2014 at Bristol Hospital.
Bill was born July 7, 1936 in Bronx, NY. He was the son of the late Eldrid & Mabel (Muller) Lawrence. Bill was a former resident of Roxbury, CT moving to Plymouth 15 years ago. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. Prior to his retirement he was a pilot for American Express, Seaboard Airlines and Flying Tigers. Bill was a communicant of St. Casimir Church, Terryville, member of St. Casimir Catholic Men's Club and Democratic Town Committee and also volunteered for the Plymouth Community Food Pantry.
Bill's love of travel began when he was just 17 years old and joined the U.S. Navy as a flight mechanic. He continued his career in aviation as a flight engineer and then as an international pilot. Wherever Bill travelled, he immersed himself in the culture, always brining home stories of his adventures to share. His love of the world instilled a sense of wanderlust and curiosity in his daughters and grandchildren, creating a new generation of travelers.
Bill was more than just a pilot though. He was a devoted husband who never missed an important date, a doting father who brought tales and presents from around the world home to his daughters, an inspiring grandfather who always encouraged his grandchildren to follow their dreams and a committed great-grandfather who loved spending his days watching his great-granddaughters play.
Bill created meaningful relationships with everyone he met and will be fondly remembered as a man who never outgrew his curiosity.
Besides his wife he is survived by his daughters, Linda Hansen of Thomaston, Karen Lawrence and her husband Frank Corsetti of Thomaston; his brother, John Lawrence of Queens, NY; his six grandchildren, Michael, Katherine, Diana and her husband Craig, Laura, Emily and her husband Steve and Erin; his great grandchildren, Hannah and Juliana. He was predeceased by his brother, Donald Lawrence.
