Foster, Douglas M..
Douglas M. Foster, age 68 of Brookfield, died suddenly on Friday March 7th at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of the late Janet (Toce) Foster.
Douglas was born February 9, 1946 in Columbus, OH the son of the late Conrad E. Foster and the late Betty Jean (Busby) (Foster) Brown. He attended high school in Newbury, VT, graduating in June 1964. Douglas was a U.S. Army veteran, inducted in August 1967 just prior to marrying his wife Janet Toce in December of that year.
Following his discharge from the Army in 1969, Douglas attended Western CT State College, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. degree in May 1977, later receiving his M.S. degree in May 1980. He was employed as a teacher with Rogers Park Middle School in Danbury from 1977 until his retirement in 2006. During his tenure, he directed both the S.T.A.R. and In School Suspension programs, and was highly successful as a basketball coach at the school. He helped organize and run many cultural and educational trips to New York City, school graduation programs, school dances and talent shows. Douglas also organized the Danbury Theatre Group, running hundreds of bus trips to New York City plays and shows over the years.
Douglas is survived by two brothers: Jeffrey D. Foster and his wife Nancy of Big Arm, MT, and David A. Foster of Corona, CA, one sister: Kim S. Foster of Lancaster, CA, two nephews Jason and Cory Foster, and one niece Sarah Foster.
The family will receive friends on Thursday March 20th at the Green Funeral Home 57 Main Street Danbury from 5 thru 8pm.
Private burial services will take place in the spring at Saint Rose Cemetery, Newtown.
