Hawthorne, Beverley
Beverley Lorraine Hawthorne of Bethel, passed away peacefully at home on March 12, 2014, surrounded by loving family and friends. Mrs. Hawthorne was born Beverley Lorraine Frasier, daughter of Perry and Mary Frasier of Des Moines Iowa. She was the wife of William Joseph Hawthorne, Jr., of Stamford, CT, who passed away in 2008.
Mrs. Hawthorne is survived by her son Dr. William Hawthorne III, his wife, Cheryl, and daughter, Elise, of Pittsburgh, PA, by her son Brian Hawthorne, his wife Maureen of Bethlehem, CT, and their daughter Maura Smith, husband Steven and children Ian and Lily of Hanover, NH, and by her daughter Kristie Weir, husband Kevin, and children Kyle, Katie, and Karolina, and granddaughter, Avah, of Memphis, TN.
The family also recognizes Mrs. Hawthorne's very special relationship with Les and Justine Harriman and Arlene Hyatt of Bethel, CT.
Mrs. Hawthorne was a homemaker and loving wife and mother who assisted her husband, William, in the yearbook publishing business for many years. Beverley and William met at Drake University, where she was a journalism major and he was an Army Air Corps cadet. After WWII, the couple settled in Connecticut, eventually coming to Bethel in 1960.
Mrs. Hawthorne was a creative stained glass artist and a person who had an abiding love of nature, birds, flowers, and, above all, family. Her home reflected her vitality, warmth, compassion, and gentle humor.
Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 11am at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury. Burial will follow in Fairfield Memorial Park, Stamford, CT. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 9:30am until the time of the service.
In celebration of Mrs. Hawthorne's passing from life to new life, as symbolized by the rebirth of spring, those attending the memorial are invited to wear something colorful.
