Lucas, Maria
Maria (Humenik) Lucas, 75, of Danbury, beloved wife of the late Howard R. Lucas, Sr., died peacefully, surrounded in love by her family, at her home on Saturday, June 14th. She was born in Portchester, NY on August 3, 1938, daughter of the late Joseph and Theresa (Seaman) Humenik. She was a parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church.
Maria was a unit secretary for many years at Danbury Hospital. She will be remembered for her love of traveling, talents for sewing and crafts, but above all for her incredible sense of humor which shined through even in her final days, bringing comfort and laughter to all her loved ones.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Maria cherished her family. She created and treasured special bonds with each of those she loved, including her Goddaughter, Debbie, who affectionately called her "G.M."
She will be sadly missed by her six loving children, Starr Unwin and her husband, David, Wendy Michalek and her husband, Bruce, Howard R. Lucas, Jr. and his wife, Jessica, Joseph Lucas, Peter Lucas, Paul Lucas and his wife, Lisa; her twelve cherished grandchildren, Shane, Bruce, Connor, Ryan, Dylan, Devin, Sofia, Jeffrey, Skylar, Dallas, Camryn, and Matthew; her devoted Goddaughter, Debbie Montera; her two sisters, Joanne Dupay and Lillian Darula; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 19th at 11:00am at St. Gregory the Great Church. Cremation and interment will take place at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Masonicare Home Health and Hospice, PO Box 3526, Newtown, CT 06470.
