Waidelich, Raymond G..
On June 16, 2014, Ray went to be with the Lord and is now reunited with his wife, Dorothy, the love of his life. He was born on October 9, 1925, son of George A. Waidelich and Viola (Martini) Waidelich. He was a life-long resident of Brookfield and died in Danbury Hospital, after a long tussle with MDS. He was a product of the Iron Works District one room schoolhouse. In his youth he was a trapper, gatherer and turkey farmer.
Ray served in the Army Air Force in 1944 and 1945. He was a Brookfield Volunteer Fireman, President of the Brookfield Sportsmens Club and President of the Laurel Hill Cemetery Assoc. He was a former member of the Brookfield Board of Finance and was the Brookfield Town Treasurer for 32 years. Ray and Dorothy operated Waidelich's Christmas Tree Farm on Oak Grove Road. His regular job was Controller, National Aluminum Corp.
Ray is survived by his sister Mildred Tobias of Brookfield and five daughters; Janet Baysden and her husband Larry, Donna McQueen and her husband John, and Carol Hett all of Wilmington, NC, Bonnie Redinger and her husband Steve of Sheridan, WY, and Melody Hendrickson and her husband Charles of Minnetrista, MN. He is also survived by a multitude of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews,
Visitation will be from 6:00-7:30 pm, Friday June 20th at Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury. A Celebration of Raymond's life as well as his interment in Laurel Hill Cemetery will be held privately at a later date.
