DePalma, Shirley C.
Shirley C. DePalma, 81, of Brookfield, beloved wife of Leonard J. DePalma, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 28, 2014, sending a beautiful rainbow.
Shirley was born in Danbury, daughter of the late Martin and Catherine (Bleckel) Keane. She graduated from Danbury High School and New England School of Banking at Williams College and attended the American Institute of Banking. She went on to work for the former Union Trust Bank, where she was employed in the Danbury, Southbury and Ridgefield offices, holding many executive positions including Assistant Vice-President. She was a member of the Southbury Business Association and Fairfield County Chapter of the National Association of Bank Women. Mrs. DePalma also served as State Treasurer of the Connecticut Division of the American Cancer Society and Treasurer of the Danbury Unit of the American Cancer Society. She served as a member of the Solicitation Committee of the United Way of Tri-State. Shirley was an avid gardener who coordinated the plantings to the entrances of her condominium complex and St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church where she was a longtime devoted member. She won many awards for golfing including a Hole In One at Ridgewood Country Club and was a duckpin bowling enthusiast, winning many trophy's and awards. In the summer months she and her best friend Jeanette Simone loved going to the ocean.
She is survived by several adoring nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church, Brookfield, on Friday morning at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Friday morning from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m.
