Montesi, Joanne M.
Joanne M. Montesi, 70, of Danbury, died peacefully at Danbury Hospital on Monday, August 4th. She was born in Danbury on May 24, 1944, daughter of the late Louis A. and Josephine (Renda) Montesi. She was a graduate of Danbury High School, Class of 1962, Rivier College, Class of 1966 and completed a Masters Degree at New York University.
Joanne shared her passion for literature as an English teacher for Immaculate High School, retiring in 1999. After retirement she volunteered on the Immaculate High School Advisory Board. She also enjoyed tutoring students privately and was active with the Friends of the Danbury Library.
She loved New York City, attending Broadway plays, and traveling both the US as well as abroad. She was a cherished friend who will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.
She is survived by her brother, Louis A. Montesi, Jr., with whom she made her home in Danbury; as well as many aunts, uncles, beloved cousins and close friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 6th at 10:00am at St. Gregory the Great Church, Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Tuesday evening between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00pm.
