Goodbou, Leonard G.
Leonard G. Goodbou, 83, of New Milford, CT, died Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at New Milford Hospital. He was the husband of Arlene Smart Goodbou.
Mr. Goodbou was born in Allagash, Maine, April 2, 1931, son of the late Rosaire and Sally Kelly Goodbou.
He moved from Maine to New Milford in 1962, where he was a self-employed contractor in the Leonard G. Goodbou & Son Construction Business. He retired at age 75 but still sold fire wood until recently.
Mr. Goodbou was well known in the area, and was an avid hunter, enjoying the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife Arlene whom he married June 7, 1953 in the Allegash Baptist Church; three daughters, Laurel Bothwell, Shelley Kilian, and Amy Thibodeau and her husband Terry, all of New Milford; three sisters, Genevia Dubray of Kent, CT, Ida Jandreau of St. Francis, ME, and Joan Cyr of Flintville, TN; five grandchildren, Travis, Roderick, Crystal, Taylor and Stephanie; and three great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Coltin and Logan.
He was predeceased by four sons, Gary, Kelly, David and Lenny JR; brother, Romeo Goodbou; sister, Ruth O'Leary; and a grandson, Christopher Goodbou.
Friends may call on Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 5 to 8 PM at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge Street, New Milford, CT.
A Burial Service will take place on Friday, August 15, at 10 AM at Morningside Cemetery, Gaylordsville, CT.
