Kenneth Gregory Ayles, 50, of Sandy Hook, went home to the Lord on Thursday, August 21 with his loving family by his side. He is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Jennifer (Beiser) Ayles, their children, Olivia and Brayden; brothers, Bill, Ron, Mark and Donald, and his mother, Shirley M. Ayles; mother in law, Delores Beiser, Brother in law, Jeff Beiser; many nieces and nephews and dear friends. Ken grew up in East Norwalk. He was a graduate of Norwalk High where he led the basketball team to win the state championship title in 1982. He then attended the University of Maine-Machias for a short time. Ken had been employed by Kaufman Fuel until he was diagnosed with brain cancer six years ago. There will be a gathering of friends on Thursday, August 28, 2014 from 5 to 8 pm, at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, where friends can share stories of Ken. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown, on Friday, August 29, 2014 at 11 am. Inurnment will follow in St. Rose Cemetery
