William Wargo Obituary

William Wargo Wargo William Wargo, age 91 of Redding, devoted husband of the late Margaret Komonyi Wargo, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2008 at Danbury Hospital. Born and raised in Bridgeport, Bill had been a resident of Redding for 55 years. A skilled craftsman with a clear understanding of engineering and master carpentry talents, he spent his life creating works of art or teaching others how to do so. Bill taught carpentry, as well as coached track and swimming at Bullard Haven Technical School until his retirement in 1975. For several years thereafter, he ran his own cabinetry and furniture restoration work shop in Newtown and was also employed with a local Commercial Hardware store. His greatest interest was in "to scale" model airplane building. Throughout the years, Sikorsky Aircraft contracted him to create large to scale models of each of their helicopters, many of which he received state and national recognition for. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II. After courageously fighting his cancer for two years, he will be remembered by his family including his son, Gregory Wargo of Danbury; son-in-law, Salvatore Bonito of North Haven; two grandchildren, Paige Leone of Massachusetts and Scott Bonito of North Haven; one great-granddaughter, Madison Leone; one sister-in-law, Mary Wargo of Bridgeport; two nephews, James Wargo, Jr. of Bridgeport and Geoffrey Wargo and his wife, Patricia of Fairfield; great-niece, Amanda Wargo; great-nephew, Geoffrey Wargo. In addition to his beloved wife, Bill was predeceased by his daughter, Suzanna Bonito and two brothers, Ernest and James Wargo. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center, with the Reverend Betsy Blomfield officiating. His burial will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Academy of Model Aeronautics, 5161 E. I spent many hours flying with Bill at the Redding High School. He was always interesting and funny. Anyone who knew him knew he loved airplanes. I am very sad to hear of his passing.

Words cannot alone express how sorry I am to hear this news.

Bill was a great and gentle man with a true zeal for life. He earned the respect and good will of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Bill has completed his journey to that undiscovered country from who no traveler returns. I share with you the numerous and wonderful memories of him and a faith in the future which extends beyond death.

May you find peace with time.
