Elba Walters Obituary

Elba (Ayala) Walters, age 65 of Danbury, wife of the Benjamin W. Walters III, passed away at Pope John Paul II Health Care on Wednesday, February 16, 2011. She was born in San Juan Puerto Rico on April 3, 1945, daughter of the late Jaime and Carmen Ayala. She moved to the Bronx, NY in 1947 and spent a good part of her life in New York graduating from Dodge Vocational High School. Survived by her husband of 40 years, Elba and Ben were married in 1971; moved to Danbury CT in 1981. Elba worked at Action Circuits and Ability Beyond Disability for 10 years. She loved music and dancing and being with her family. She also had a passion for collecting dolls, sewing and shoes. She will be sadly missed by her three children and their spouses Elvin John Irizarry (Susan Edwards), Bernadette Wasson and Benjamin W. Walters IV (Jolene Walters); her seven grandchildren Kenneth Morrisette, Marque Vasquez, Jessica McCarthy, Fatima Butt, Aquila Butt, Chelsea Chochrane and Benjamin W. Walters V and five great grandchildren. The family will receive friends and family at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street., Danbury, Sunday afternoon from 4 to 7. The burial of the cremains will be at St. Peter's Cemetery, Thursday, February 24, 2011 at 11am. The Walters family would like to extend a special thanks to all the wonderful and caring staff at Pope John Paul II Health Care. We greatly appreciate all your efforts and comfort you gave to Elba.
