It is with great sadness that the family of Winford Fletcher announces his passing after a long battle with cancer on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at the age of 56. He went peacefully surrounded by his family at the Village Crest Nursing Home in New Milford. He leaves his wife of 20 years Ratana Fletcher; his son, Joe Leemarpilab; his two grandchildren; his mother, Joan Krasselt; his three sisters, Judy Pitchard, Terry Krasselt and Kennia Krasselt; his three brothers, Jimmy Fletcher, Wayne Fletcher and David Krasselt; his stepsister, Linda Andrighetti; his stepbrother; Michael Krasselt; his many nieces and nephews; and many close friends. Winford was predeceased by his father, Clarence Krasselt. Winford was born March 18, 1955, in Lake Mahopac, NY, he attended school in Washington, CT and then moved to New Milford, CT where he spent the remainder of his life. In his early years, he was a furniture maker and was renowned for his craftsmanship and upholstery skills. Later in life he became a security guard for New Milford Hospital but his greatest love came from his 15 years at the Elephants Trunk, where he could be found every weekend buying and selling militaria, he was known and loved by all collectors and will be missed by all. At his request, no service will be held instead family and friends are invited to a gathering from 12 to 2 p.m. on Sunday September 18th at Colosseo Restaurant, 38 Park Lane Road, New Milford, CT. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Winford Fletcher to the Village Crest Nursing Home, 19 Poplar Street, New Milford, CT 06776.
