Burt L. Munson, 89, of New Milford, CT., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at home. He was the husband of Doris Dwy Munson. Mr. Munson was born in Litchfield, CT., January 26, 1922, son of the late Albert and Cora Dean Munson. A resident of New Milford since 1937 and after farming, he worked at New Milford Tractor from 1944 to 1955. Despite never finishing eighth grade, he went on to become the owner and operator of Imperial Tractor Company, a John Deere dealership in Ramsey New Jersey for 29 years, selling and servicing construction equipment. After retiring in 1979, Burt loved to spend his summers doing yard work and playing golf with friends, while spending the winters in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida. Mr. Munson was a member of the New Milford Lions Club for 38 years, and a member and past Noble Grand of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows for 60 years. In addition to his wife Doris of 51 years, he is survived by two sons, Burt Munson, Jr. (Sam) and his wife Diane of Bridgewater, CT. and Bruce Munson and his wife Patti of New Milford, CT.; two daughters, Lynn Foltan and her husband Richard of North Augusta, SC and Connie Miller and her husband Steve of Millersburg, Ohio; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at 12:30 PM at Gaylordsville United Methodist Church, Gaylordsville, CT. Burial will follow at Morningside Cemetery, Gaylordsville.
