Scalzo, Maria
Maria C. Butera Scalzo, 87, of Danbury and wife of the late Antonio Butera died on Friday, October 5th at Bethel Health Care. She was born April 16, 1925 in Conflenti, Italy, daughter of the late, Michaelangelo and Teresa (Isabella) Scuglia. Maria was long time parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Danbury and a member of the Colonna Lodge in Danbury. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. Maria took part in activities with the St. Gregory Senior Citizen Group and enjoyed playing bingo and taking trips with her friends theres. Maria will be missed by her two sons, Frank Butera and his wife Olga and Peppino Butera and his wife Fiorella all of Danbury; three grandchildren, Adriana, Briana and Alessandro Butera; her brother, Rosalbino Scuglia of Italy; many nieces and nephews as well as other extended family from Italy, Australia and Switzerland. The family would like to give a special Thank You to the staff at Bethel Health Care for their kind and compassionate care of Maria. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in her name to the , 306 Industrial Park Rd. # 105, Middletown, CT 06457 or www.diabetes.org. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Wednesday, October 10th at St. Joseph Church, 8 Robinson Ave., Danbury. Entombment will follow in St. Peter Mausoleum. The family will receive friends between the hours of 5 and 8 PM on Tuesday, October 9th at Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury.
