My original expression of sympathy stands, and the loss of Jerry and of so many in our group forcing its abandonment remains a sad if natural thing!

As a former colleague and frequent visitor to the Friday morning diner breakfast meeting, Jerry's companionship, stories of his travels, and of his endeared Red Sox are among the things of which I am reminded and for which he will be missed. So sorry that being out of state, I was unaware of his passing until recently. My condolensences and best to all of his family.

To the Hyland Family:
There is little that can be said and nothing will ever replace your Husband, Father, Grandfather or Family Member, which is the way it was likely intended. Just know that now you will never be without his watchful eye, your words will always be heard by him and he will always be there to extend a hand give a hug orlaugh and smile at with you. May God keep you all safe and comforted.

Respectfully Submitted,
J.D. Smith - Windsor, CT

Dear Mrs. Hyland, Mary Ellen, Eileen, Matt and John,

I was sorry to hear about your Mr. Hyland's death from Mrs. Miller. I always enjoyed talking with him over the years at neighborhood parties and get togethers. I remember how he and Joe Lillis used to have so much fun playing pranks on everyone all those years ago and how Eileen used to call him Jamome. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Hyland family,

Your dad's contribution to the world were those not seen much any more in our transitory culture: A 51 year marriage to his wife, a lifelong member of his community, a 35 year career as an educator, father of four successful adults and grandfather of 12 great kids.

It is clear from reading your dad's accomplishments that he was the rock from which you all jumped off, knowing he would be there to return to if the water got too deep.

Sincerest condolences from the entire McCarthy family.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it's the memories of you that are the most precious.
