Roland J. Lajoie, Sr. passed away on November 7, 2012. Dad was born on August 29, 1929 in Danbury, son of Grace and Sylvio Lajoie. He was especially proud of his military service. On August 22, 1953, he married Joan Perkins at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Danbury. After residing in Danbury, and later in New Fairfield, the family moved to Stowe, Vermont in 1966. Dad was at his best as a creative, very meticulous and detail-oriented custom builder. There wasn't anyone better. He also became a successful swimming pool contractor, owner/operator of the Rusty Nail in Stowe and the owner of a vending machine company in Morrisville. Dad also enjoyed wood working projects, loved country music (especially Hank Williams), dancing and watching old westerns. He is survived by his children, Roland Lajoie Jr, and wife Deborah of Vermont, Michael Lajoie of Colorado, Donna Lajoie of Massachusetts, Kelly Lajoie and husband Terry of Massachusetts, and Jennifer Lajoie and husband Mark of Vermont; his eight grandchildren; and his sisters, Muriel Kolwicz and husband Victor, Lucille Kearns and husband Eddie, and Shirley Mills of Connecticut. He was pre-deceased by his sister Janet Demici, who was married to Rino, and his brother-in-law Raymond Mills. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Friday, November 16, 2012 at St. Gregory the Great Church, 85 Great Plain Rd., Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. A reception will follow at Two Steps in Danbury. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Dad's name to the , 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
