Lunn, Doreen
Dedicated wife, loving mother and grandmother, Doreen Eunice (Sheeley) Lunn passed away at age 65 on January 24, 2013, at home in Brookfield, Connecticut, from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Devoted to her family, Doreen was happily married to Howell for 44 years. They met as teenagers, dated steadily and graduated from Beacon High School together in 1965. They married on June 8, 1968. After spending many years as a homemaker, Doreen had a successful and fulfilling career managing Poughkeepsie OB/GYN before retiring with Howell to spend more time with family and friends and doing the many things they loved to do, always together. Doreen will always be remembered as a tireless caregiver. "Geekee" delighted in being a grandmother, whether it be while vacationing, boating, baking or babysitting. She combined her avid interest in family history and heirlooms with a passion for antiques. Her homemade corn pudding was the best anyone could imagine. Doreen was born on January 29, 1947, in Beacon, NY, to David J. and Eunice S. (Coffin) Sheeley. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Janice Ray. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Howell C. Lunn, Jr.; son, Howell C. Lunn, III (Kerry) of Fairfield, CT; daughter Amy D. Maccarrone (David) of Darien, CT; five grandchildren, Kathryn, Addie, Anna Grace, Harry and Kiersten, and sisters, JoAnn Transue (Lee) and Donna Pitts (William). Friends may call on Sunday, January 27, 2013 from 12-2 pm and 5-7 pm and Monday, January 28, 2013 from 10 am-11:30 am where a funeral service will be held at 11:30am at Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home, 900 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY. Memorial contributions in Doreen's name may be made to The ALS Association - Connecticut Chapter, 4 Oxford Road, Unit 4, Milford, CT 06460. For Doreen's online guestbook, please visit
