David Lee Jones, 71, of Wallingford, formerly of New Fairfield, CT., died peacefully in his home, Wednesday, July 10, 2013. He was the loving husband of 29 years of Georgianna Luongo Jones. David was born in Upland, PA., March 2, 1942, a son of the late Griffith Jones and Beatrice Heavlow Jones. He graduated from Chichester High School in Boothwyn, PA in 1960 and Houghton College in Houghton, NY in 1964 with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, and later received a Graduate Degree from Hofstra University. David earned his CPA, and worked for the Internal Revenue Service, was an accountant for Price Waterhouse, and was a tax manager for Kraft General Foods. He was a Sunday School Superintendent at the United Methodist Church in New Fairfield for 19 years, sang in the church choir and served on many church committees. David was also a member of the Lion's Club in Wallace, North Carolina. In addition to his wife, Georgianna, he is survived by his four daughters Sheri Dee and her husband Michael of New Fairfield, Melanie Kirchner of Conway, SC, Valerie Chivinski and her husband Ron Jr., of Torrington and Kristina Louderback of Port St. Lucie, FL. He also leaves behind five grandchildren Nathaniel, Rachel, Cody, Joshua and Danielle; and his brother Thomas Jones of Wallingford, PA. He was predeceased by his first wife Hilda Turner Jones in 1980. The Jones family wishes to thank all their wonderful family and friends who have lovingly supported and prayed for them during David's five year illness. In addition, they extend their gratitude and thanks to all the dedicated and hard- working staff from the Visiting Angels and The Connecticut Hospice.
His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Friday, July 12, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 13, at 10:30 a.m. directly in the First United Methodist Church of Wallingford, 941 Old Rock Hill Rd, Wallingford. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery in North Haven.
