Eleanor Marie Freund, age 90, passed away on Thursday, July 18th at Danbury Hospital.
She was born in Plymouth Pa., a small coal mining town, on May 26th 1923. While growing up she enjoyed being a Girl Scout. After graduating from High School she moved to Brooklyn N.Y. and went into Nurses Training at Long Island College Hospital. She then met H. Robert Freund a Surgeon in training and married him in Stanford Fla. on December 26th 1944.
Eleanor was a wise and compassionate person. She was a great Mom and she kept herself busy by helping other people. She volunteered at the New Fairfield Senior Center front desk and crocheted many Afghans and lap blankets for cancer patients. Eleanor received the Presidential Volunteer Award for putting in over a thousand hours.
For fun Eleanor loved going to the Casino and being with her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.
Eleanor was predeceased by her husband, Dr. H. Robert Freund and her son Robert's first wife Dolores.
She is survived by;
Robert her eldest son and his wife Cynthia. Robert R. grandson and granddaughter in law Brittany. Granddaughter Sera and great granddaughter Lilianna.
Eunice her eldest daughter and son in law Richard Murtagh.
Eleanor her daughter and son in law Kenneth McKeever and granddaughter Kristen and great granddaughter Abby.
Daughter Elizabeth Freund.
Daughter Barbara and son in law Paul Santino . Grandsons John and David,
Son Richard and grandsons Andrew, Jessie and Christopher.
Daughter Victoria and Leigh Brandes. Grandson Robert and granddaughter Perina,
Son James and daughter in law Kathy. Grandkids Dylan, Spencer and Casey.
Brother Robert Wychulis and sister in law Ginny. Niece Julie.
One of Mom's favorite sayings was "Whatch ya gonna do?" Mom we love you!

Friends and Family gathering at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on July 23rd between 6-8pm. Interment will be private.
