Behind me is Mr. Abbett's painting 'Stalking the Brown.' I first saw it on the over of a John Gierach book, and knew I'd like to have it. I called the publisher, who gave me Mr. Abbett's home phone number. Within minutes we were speaking. The letter he wrote me about the circumstances that led to the painting, and his wishes for success with the Brittany I had just gotten, are attached to the back of the frame. On my bookshelf is 'A Season for Painting.' Something about his art just struck a note with me, so I thought I'd share this even though it's been a few years since his passing.

I am indeed sorry for your loss. I will keep the Abbett family and friends in my prayers. Allow yourselves ample time to grieve and know that Almighty God supports all who are falling, And he raises up all who are bowed down (Psalms 145:14). -pth
