Hlavac, William J.
William Joseph Hlavac, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, on October 26, 2016, at Danbury Hospital, with his loved ones by his side. "Bill" was born July 29, 1931, in Norwalk, Connecticut, to the late Joseph and Catherine Hlavac. He and his wife, Ruth Mary Hlavac, moved to Danbury and raised their family there. He also served our country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Macon. Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by his 7 beloved siblings, Ed, Jack, Melvin, Kathleen, Charles, Janet "Toots", and most recently, his sister Dorothy, who died 2 days before him. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth M. Hlavac; daughter, Maureen Hlavac and partner Stephen Gillotti; son Brian Hlavac and wife, Traci McMath-Hlavac; son William A. Hlavac and wife, Kathleen Hlavac; son, Darren Hlavac and husband, Steven Menard; granddaughter, Kelly Hlavac and husband Deane Beman, grandson, Kyle Hlavac and wife Alyse Hlavac; grandson, Sean Hlavac; great-grandson, Hunter Hlavac; his close friend and caregiver, Frank Caracansi; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Calling hours for family and friends will be at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street Danbury, CT 06810, on Sunday, October 30, 2016, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Monday, October 31, 2016, at St. Peter Church, 104 Main Street, Danbury, CT, at 9:30 a.m., with burial immediately following at Wooster Cemetery in Danbury.
