Daniel Capua Obituary

Capua , Daniel
Daniel Capua, 91, of Danbury, CT passed away peacefully on October 28, 2016 at Wilton Meadows in Wilton, CT. Daniel was born in New York, NY to Biagio and Martina Capua, on May 29, 1925. He served our country during WWII with the US Navy. He was stationed in Alameda, CA where he was a Petty Officer second class. He was an airplane mechanic, and worked on dirigibles. After the war ended, he worked with his father at Bronx Casket until he and his father opened a stair company in the Bronx on Stillwell Ave, and named it Stillwell Stairs. In 1959 he met and married the love of his life, Susan. They worked together, built buildings together, travelled together. In 1968 he came to Danbury and opened Danbury Stairs where he worked until 2010. He was also the owner of Mill Plain Park located on Mill Plain Road in Danbury. Dan was a very kind man, who will always be remembered for his infectious enthusiasm for life and generosity which he shared with everyone he met. Dan encouraged many people to start their own business, and follow their dream!
He was always "paying it forward", he believes that kindness and helping people was the best way to live your life. He enjoyed learning languages, he spoke Italian and Spanish, and he enjoyed traveling and dancing and even spent time as an Arthur Murray Dance Instructor. In addition to his devoted wife Susan of almost 57 years, Dan is survived by his children Danna Capua-Mackey of Danbury, and Natalie C. Mazzola and her husband Bennett Mazzola of Norwalk, and his "daughters of his heart" Debbie Beck-Linley of Newtown, and Jackie Blum-Dostie of Washington DC. He is survived by His brother Ben Capua of Ft Lauderdale, FL and His brother Samuel Capua, Esq. of Miami Florida, and is pre-deceased by his sister Rose Milone of Miami, FL, His grandchildren, Ranea Mackey and her husband Tony of Florida, William Mackey Jr. and his wife Kristen of Danbury, Anthony Mazzola, and Gina Marie Mazzola of Norwalk, CT. and his Great-Granddaughter Allie Mackey of Danbury; And many nieces and nephews who he adored. In honor of Daniels memory, the family asks that you do a random act of kindness for someone. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Mid Fairfield County Hospice or The Alzheimer's Association. The family wished to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Wilton Meadows. The whole staff was so caring and kind to Daniel and to our whole family. We will always be grateful to them. Family and friends are encouraged to call Sunday November 13, 2016 at The Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, CT. from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for visitation. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday at 12:15 p.m. at Green Funeral Home. Online condolences can be made at www.thegreenfuneralhome.com

To the Capua Family: Dan was a wonderful, gentle man. A sweetheart whose kindness and generosity were endless and remarkable. He took good care of his family -- and that included many of us. And to Susie, Nat, Bennett, Anthony and Gina: your devotion to him during his illness was admirable, making sure he always knew how much he was loved, and making him as comfortable as you could. It is with great sorrow we'll have to say goodbye now, but Daniel leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, and so many happy memories. Prayers for you all, and may he rest in peace. Love, Jackie and Rich
