Paul David Davis, of Fort Ashby, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014 at the V.A. Medical Center, Martinsburg.
Paul was a life-long resident of Fort Ashby, born here in 1929. His family roots can be traced back over 200 years in the area.
He was preceded in death by his father Hollie H. Davis, mother Daisy L. Davis, and two brothers, James E. Davis and Thomas M. Davis.
He is survived by his daughter, Kathryn Renee DiManno, and husband Rick, Airmont, NY; one grandson, U.S. Army
SPC Rick DiManno, Ft. Benning, GA; Kathryn's mother, Virginia C. Davis, Keyser; two nephews, Glen A. Davis and Family, NC, and Jeff S. Davis and family, GA; a niece, Karen S. Horton and family, GA; a sister-in-law, Shirley Davis, GA; several first cousins; and, extended family of Bill, Kim, Meagan, Kayla, and Zach Bradfield, Fort Ashby.
Paul was grateful for his many neighbors, friends, and care-givers that aided him over the past several years.
Paul proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy
and U.S. Air Force
during the Korean Conflict
. He served aboard the USS Midway during his Naval enlistment and at various U.S. Air Force installations in the United States during his Air Force duty.
He was a retired Field Engineer for I.B.M.
Paul belonged to Clinton Lodge #86, A.F. & A.M., Romney. He was a life member of Henry Hart Post #1411, V.F.W. and Kelly-Mansfield Post #52, American Legion.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Inc., Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until noon.
The funeral service will follow at noon in the funeral home with Rev. Mark Hickman, officiating.
Interment will be in Fort Ashby Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by Post #13 Veterans Honor Guard.
