Allen M. Rotruck Obituary
Allen M. Rotruck, 90, of Kingwood, WV, formerly of Keyser, died on Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Heartland of Preston County

Allen was born on March 25, 1924, in Keyser, and was the son of the late Frank Arnold and Jessie Mabel (Simmons) Rotruck.

Allen was the owner of the former Rotruck Funeral Home in Keyser from 1956 until he retired in 1990. After moving to Kingwood, he was a senior active associate with the Rotruck-Lobb Funeral Homes. He had also been associated with the Vaughn Funeral Home in Parkersburg from 1950-1952 and with the Klingel-Carpenter Funeral Home in Huntington from 1952-1956, spanning over 64 years as a funeral director.

He was a member of the Keyser High School Class of 1942, but completed his studies early allowing him to graduate in 1941. He attended Potomac State College and was a graduate of Eckels College of Mortuary Science in 1949. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II where he obtained the rank of First Sergeant at the age of 21.

Allen was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Kingwood where he was a member of the chancel choir, The Rotary Club of Kingwood, 65 year member of Davis Lodge # 51 A.F. & A.M. in Keyser, Life Member of Boyce-Houser Post # 41 American Legion and Queens-Point Memorial Post # 6775 VFW, McCoole, MD. He was a member of other numerous organizations in Keyser and Kingwood.

He is survived by two sons, F. Scott Rotruck and wife Carol C. of Morgantown and A. Craig Rotruck of Kingwood; three grandchildren, Sarah E. Glenn and husband Adam, Dr. Jill C. Rotruck and Ethan C. Rotruck all of Morgantown; one great-granddaughter Nora Glenn; numerous friends, who will miss his stories about his wife, children and his war experiences; his humor, his wit, and most of all his presence.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Edna Ruth (Mixon) Rotruck on December 6, 2002, whom he married on August 1, 1948.

Friends may call the Rotruck-Lobb Kingwood Chapel; 295 South Price Street, on Saturday, May 17, 2014, from 2-4 and 6-8pm; on Sunday, May 18, 2014, from 1:00 pm until the time of the funeral in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Jenny Williams and Reverend David Spence officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Kingwood, where Military Honors will be accorded by Preston County VFW's, Vietnam Veterans of America, (VVA) Chapter 977, Preston County and WVANG Military Funeral Honors, Camp Dawson.

The family requests that any memorial donations be made in Allen's memory to the Wesley United Methodist Church Building Fund, 107 West Main Street, Kingwood, WV 26537 or the World War II Museum, c/o RRC, P.O. Box 135, Rowlesburg, WV 26425.
