Franklin D. Arnold Obituary
Franklin D. Arnold, 81, of Rt. 5, Keyser, WV, died Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the Grant County Nursing Home, Petersburg, WV.
Born on May 27, 1933 at Germantown, MD, he was a son of the late Andrew J. and Mabel Louise (McMahon) Arnold. He was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers.
Mr. Arnold was retired as a heavy equipment operator with the Washington Sanitary Commission in Beltsville, MD. Methodist by faith, he served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was an avid deer hunter and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the lights of his life.
Surviving are his wife of nearly 59 years, Lelia M. (Foster) Arnold; his children, Deborah K. Richards and husband Rev. Kenneth Richards of Water Valley, KY, Gary F. Arnold of Keyser, Wayne A. Arnold and wife Jennifer of Bowie, MD, David L. Arnold and wife Mary of Burlington, WV, Karen S. See and husband Daniel of Moorefield, WV, Diana L. Nesselrod and husband Tommy of Purgitsville, WV and MacArthur Cole, Jr. and wife Sis of Moorefield; one brother, Carroll Arnold of Harpers Ferry, WV; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Sunday, July 20, 2014 from 5-8 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Monday, July 21, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Kenneth Richards and Rev. Samuel Biser officiating.
Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to the family in care of Lelia M. Arnold, Rt. 5, Box 47, Keyser, WV 26726 to assist in defraying expenses.
