Oliver King Moreland Jr. Obituary
Oliver King Moreland, Jr., 97, of Rawlings, MD, died Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the Moran Manor Nursing Home, Westernport, MD.

Born on October 31, 1916 at Rawlings, MD, he was a son of the late Oliver King Moreland, Sr. and Almertia Frances (Pownell) Moreland. On February 28, 1937, he married the former Sadie L. Walker. She preceded him in death on November 25, 2004. He also was preceded in death by three sisters, Perry, Coye and Chuck Moreland and five sisters, Edith McManus, Minnie Walker, Mary Lawrence, May Moreland and Elizabeth Kempher.

Mr. Moreland was retired as a supervisor with the B & O Railroad. He was a US Army veteran of World War II and was a member of Victory Post # 155, American Legion, Westernport.

Surviving are two sons, Wayne Moreland and wife Beverly of Keyser, WV and Sherman Moreland of Wasilla, Alaska; two daughters, Norma Feaster and husband Tom of Rawlings and Carol Hesse of Daytona Beach, FL; three brothers, Earl D. Moreland of Rawlings, Dave Moreland of Cumberland, MD and Paul Moreland of Middle River, MD; two sisters, Gladys Hood of Cumberland and Vida Smith of Baltimore, MD; seven grandchildren, Wayne Moreland, Jr., Jean Yokum, Susan Nester, Thomas Feaster, Tammi Laymon-Woolman, Tina Wiltison and Jerome Hesse; one step grandson, Steven Hesse; 14 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Dawson United Methodist Church on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. John Walker, nephew, officiating. Friends may also call at the church one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser. Graveside military honors will be accorded.

The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to the Moran Manor Nursing Home Recreational Fund, 25701 Shady Lane, Westernport, MD 21562.
