Kenneth Roger Murphy Obituary
KEYSER - Kenneth Roger Murphy, 92, of Fort Avenue, Keyser, W.Va., died Friday, March 21, 2014, at the Golden Living Center, Cumberland, Md.
Born on Dec. 28, 1921, at Blaine, W.Va., he was a son of the late John and Mary (Metz) Murphy. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Marie (Shortland) Murphy, on Oct. 1, 2011; a sister, Cleona Murphy, and a brother, Lockhart Murphy.
Mr. Murphy was a 1939 graduate of Elk Garden High School and was a US Army veteran of World War II. He retired after 30 years of service with the Potomac Edison Company in the service and line departments. He attended the Bonnieview Apostolic Chapel, Keyser, and was an avid bowler, both in regular and duck pins.
Surviving are his children, Michael Murphy of Cumberland, Md., Diane Decort of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Susan Mattson of Anchorage, Alaska; and one grandson, Kenneth H. Murphy of Baltimore, Md.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Daniel Garlitz officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
