Rev. John David Englant Obituary
Rev. John David Englant, age 78, of Robertsville, passed away into the arms of his of his heavenly Father, Monday, July 28, 2014 in the Great Trail Care Center in Minerva, OH, after a valiant sixteen year battle with Parkinson's Disease.
 He was born October 11, 1935 in Canton to the late John and Marie (Scott) Englant. 
 He attended Wooster College, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in religion from Indiana Wesleyan University, received a master of education from Bethany (PA) College, and attended the University of West Virginia on a Science Foundation scholarship. He served as minister of the Gospel for 12 years at Cabin Run Wesleyan Methodist Church near Keyser, West Virginia, and 22 years at Pittsfield Wesleyan Church in Pittsfield, PA. He was president of the Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Connection, headquartered in Salem, Ohio, for 5 years, and on his retirement in 1998 was named president emeritus. Many still listen to and quote his recorded sermons and writings. He also taught mathematics, chemistry, and English depending on his teaching assignments at Elk Garden and Keyser High Schools in WV and Youngsville High School in PA.
 He is preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty-one years, Janet (Ritchey) Englant, who died Sept. 25, 2013; a son-in-law, L. Steve Pearson; brothers-in-law, Luther Betz, Arthur Hale, Lee Harmon and Donald Irwin.
 He is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth "Libby" Pearson of Reynoldsburg, Julie (Denny) O'Brien of Canton and Beth (Alan) Haight of Savannah, GA; a son, Dan (Marsha) Englant of Canton; two sisters, Ruth Betz of Paris and Judy Hale of North Fort Myers, FL; seven sisters-in-law, Beverly (Paul) Young of Bolivar, Helen Ritchey of Louisville, Carol (Jerry) Strait, of Robertsville, Edith Irwin of East Canton, Linda (Jack) Strait of Robertsville, Charlene Harmon of Watauga, TX, and Karen "Bear" Erwin of Louisville;  10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and special care giver and good friend to both John and his wife Janet, Bressa Long.
 The family thanks the Great Trail Care Center staff for its hours of devoted and loving care of both John and Janet during their stay there. And to the care givers who made it possible for them to live in their own home during the earlier stages of their illnesses.
 Funeral services will be held Friday at 12:00 p.m. in the Robertsville Wesleyan Methodist Church with the Rev. Thomas Haight and the Rev. William Cope officiating.  Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery.  Calling hours will be Thursday from 6-9 p.m. at the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva and one hour prior to services at the church.
