Harry W. Huntley

Harry Wilmer Huntley, of Weyers Cave, died Friday (Dec. 9, 2005) at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg. He was 88.

Mr. Huntley was born in Augusta County on April 29, 1917, the son of the late Jesse W. Huntley and Livey Bright. Mr. Huntley was a general contractor and had worked at the Harrisonburg Auto Auction. He also served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a staff sergeant in WWII.

On Jan. 18, 1945, he was united in marriage with Eva Griffin Huntley, also of Weyers Cave.

Mr. Huntley is survived by his wife, as well as a son, Kenneth W. Huntley and his wife Juanita of Clover Hill; three daughters, Linda H. and Fred Asbell of Suffolk, Tina H. and Douglas Norcross of Waynesboro, and Tami R. and Mark Hanna of Weyers Cave; one sister, Anne H. and Helio Lemmi of Memphis, Tenn.; a half brother, Richard and Sandy Huntley of Churchville; and ten grandchildren, Jamie Payne, Meredith Burruss, Ashley Riddle, Jason Boyd, Mandi Asbell, Drey Asbell, Drema Antes, Ashley Norcross, Jason Hanna and Kelly Hanna. Six great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Huntley was preceded in death by a grandson, Kevin Norcross; two sisters, Ruth King and Mary Jane Staggs Perryman; and a brother, Thomas L. Huntley.

A memorial service officiated by Gale Younkins will be held at 4 p.m. Monday (Dec. 12, 2005) at the Johnson Funeral Service Chapel in Bridgewater, 208 S. Main St. Burial will be private.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 11, 2005) at the Johnson Funeral Service Chapel.
