Harry Eavey Obituary

Harry William Eavey, 83, of 1102 North Forest Ave., Waynesboro, passed away at 4:35 p.m. March 9, 2006, at Avante of Waynesboro.

He was born March 6, 1923, in Augusta County, the son of the late Other Daniel and Ida Pleasants Eavey.

He was a member of Shenandoah Heights Baptist Church and retired with 41 years of service with Stanley Furniture. He was an avid softball player.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy C. Eavey; one son, Dale E. Eavey; one stepson, "J.B." Coffey; and one brother, Roy Daniel Eavey.

Survivors include two stepsons, Donald W. Coffey and his wife, Dawn, and Jerry Lee Coffey and his wife, Fay, all of Waynesboro; two daughters-in-law, Nancy Eavey and Joyce Coffey; one brother, Russell Eavey of Waynesboro; four sisters, Mary Williams of Lost Creek, W.Va., Frances Terrell of Waynesboro, Margaret Marshall of Williamsburg and Louise Campbell of North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Donnie W. Coffey Jr., Dr. Bruce E. Coffey, Shon C. Allen, Michael E. Eavey, Travis L. Coffey, Dana R. Campbell and Christopher Eavey; 10 great-grandchildren; and a special caregiver, Ruby Matheny.

A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. March 13, 2006, at Shenandoah Heights Baptist Church with the Revs. Paul LaPrevotte and "B.C." Akers officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be his grandsons and his great-grandson, Jerry M. Gillenwater.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Shifflett, Fred Mundy, Marion Lawhorne, Freddie Stickler and members of his Sunday school class.

The family will receive friends from 4-5 p.m. March 12, 2006, at Reynolds Funeral Service of Waynesboro and other times at the residence of 1102 North Forest Avenue.

Memorial contributions can be made to Shenandoah Heights Baptist Church, 901 Shenandoah Ave., Waynesboro, Va., 22980.
