Fred A. Hypes WAYNESBORO

Fred Allen Hypes, 85, of Waynesboro, lost his fight with cancer on Saturday, September 27, 2008, at Shenandoah House in Fishersville.

He was born May 7, 1923, in Giles County, a son of Roy Burnett and Pauline Long Hypes.

Fred was a furniture craftsman, retiring from Stanley Furniture in 1984.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Marcell Heppinstall; and four brothers, Rodney, Carroll, Russell, and Albert Hypes.

Surviving are the mother of his children, Delma Hypes Bradley of Waynesboro; two daughters, Michelle Atkins and Joyce Anderson and her husband, William, all of Way-nesboro; two sons and their wives, Larry and Sharon Hypes and Randy and Nancy Hypes, all of Waynesboro; three sis-ters, Betty Sue Snowden and her husband, Norman, of Gloucester, Goldie Divers of Hardy, and Ruby Franklin of Gretna; one brother, Harry Hypes and his wife, Margaret, of Waynesboro; ten grand-children, Danny Anderson and his wife, Lynnette, Jodi John-son and her husband, Tim, Kate Hypes, Andrew Hypes, Jenny Hypes, Shandie Brad-shaw and her husband, Calvin, Larry Hypes Jr. and his fian-cee, Jessica Carpenter, Brit-tany Hypes, and Jacob and Sarah Atkins; two great-grand-children, Marshall Anderson and Cohen Bradshaw; numer-ous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Irene and Frank; and other residents at Springdale.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2008, at Augusta Memorial Park, by the Reverend Joseph Walker and the Reverend Scott Conrad.

Active pallbearers will be Danny Anderson, Calvin Bradshaw, Mason Deffen-baugh, Andrew Hypes, Larry Hypes Jr., and Tim Johnson.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Monday, September 29, 2008, at McDow Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shenandoah House, 111 N. Campus Ln., Fishersville, VA 22939.

The family requests no public viewing.

To my wonderful Uncle that I will never forget. I remember great times spent with him and Delma and my great cousins as a little girl. I have some of the most wonderful memories that I will treasure as long as I live.
