To Sammy If kindness were a garden, you'd have every bloom in the world. If generousity were a mountain, you'd be the tallest in the world. If friendship were lights you'd be the brightest. May you be in your garden in heaven, looking high from your mountain shining all the lights so we can follow! I will deeply miss my friend!! I hope my words. give the family comfort. Mike and Family,
My husband{Jim} didn't know what to say in his message so I will try. Our prayers are for the family and Rita. Sammy has been in our life for over 40 years so there are many many memories. We loved him so much. No one can measure up to Sammy's kindness or love for others and his love for our Lord Jesus Christ. He was always faithfully and joyfully at church. Always with a big smile. We will miss you Sammy so much but the Lord was ready for you to come home to your mansion that you so deserved. Until we join you, Good bye Sammy, our dear friend.

Sammy was such a great person! My Nanny told me the story of one time she stopped at the station to get gas and it was snowing. He came out and told her to get back in the car, it was too cold for her to pump gas. He finished filling her tank for her. This is just one of the caring things Sammy would do for anyone! My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

I don't ever remember seeing a frown on his face. I do remember a very important life lesson he taught me when I was about 9 or 10 yrs old.Two friends and myself were walking up the road one day when we saw a bunch of glass bottles laying in the ditch.Somebody thought it would be cool to bust them on the road, unlike me to not join in..but I JUST watched. Well being from the big town of Crimora it didn't take very long for us to get busted and wrangled up by none other than...you guessed it ,Sammy! So he proceeded to give us all shop brooms from his store and told us to get busy.Well then I protested, "but I DIDN'T DO IT" I "just watched"! Then Sammy told me that if I just stood by and watched and didn't do anything about it, then I was just as guilty as they were.So...guilty by association is the important life lesson I learned from that man.The lesson we all could learn from him is ..IT TAKES A VILLAGE! Thank you Sammy..I appreciate what you taught me.

Sammy was an amazing, loving, kind, caring and generous man. When I started driving he made sure I knew I could come to the station and blow the horn and some one would come pump gas for me. (I'm paralyzed and drive with hand controls) He was so sweet to my daughter when she was little and would go in and say "Mommy needs gas" Sammy would give her a lolipop and pump for me. He made me smile because he was always smiling. God Bless you all. He will be missed.

As a teenager, I worked with my dad Vastine Fisher pretty often and nearly every trip included a stop off at Sammy's. My dad loved talking with him and the more I listened the more I knew why. During Christmas tree season I remember riding with dad and stopping off for gas there on the corner. Dad and I both went in and chatted a bit and when we came back to the truck, Sammy had put a handful of candy bars in the center of my dad's truck seat. Sammy has always been nothing but wonderful to my family. His is a face that I will not forget with a big grin and a twinkle in his eyes. He was very simply THE BEST!

Sammy was a fine man, a role model who exemplified how a good heart and a kind nature are key elements of a successful life . He was an icon on the corner for many years, always a smile and a warm greeting for everyone. Many is the time he went the extra mile to help someone, he was truly a blessing for all who were fortunate enough to know him. May God be with all of you and comfort you through this time of grieving. May you find peace knowing he is with our Lord and he waits patiently for the day when you will be together again.
